SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the administration and support of operations applications including operator displays, externally available web applications, and Energy Market Systems. Develop custom applications and integrate vendor-developed solutions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Provide support for operations applications by defining, coordinating and implementing business, technical, and functional requirements using specialized software tools. - Develop and maintain custom in-house applications. - Evaluate, recommend and integrate new technology and tools. - Monitor, maintain and customize existing applications ensuring maximum performance. - Define and implement application requirements. - Perform administrative functions following standardized control practices. - Compliance with all processes, procedures, and standards applicable to the position including (but not limited to): SAS 70 (Statement on Auditing Standards 70), CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection), Change Management, Tariff (Open Access Transmission and Energy Markets Tariff), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and NAESB (North American Energy Standards Board). QUALIFICATIONS Education: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Experience: - Three years experience in maintenance and support of production grade software. - One year experience with software development and testing. - Experience in electric utility energy management applications including development, design, and support of production grade software preferred. Knowledge: - Principles, practices, and administration of technical issues. - Procedures and applications involved in the information systems development life cycle. - Proficiency on multiple operating systems (UNIX, Windows). - Oracle DBMS including SQL and stored procedures - Software development and quality standards/models - Development, design and support of production grade software. Skills: - Commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork - Excellent communication and listening skills - Utilizing company policies appropriately - Basic administration skills on a variety of computer platforms (Windows, Solaris). - Programming skills with various programming languages and tools including C#, Java, HTML, SQL, XML, and Oracle PL/SQL. - Business Process and Work Flows. Abilities: - Apply and adapt practices and techniques to a variety of projects. - Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and the general public. - Present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. - Manage and prioritize a dynamic workload. - Manage multiple projects and demanding deadlines. - Install, configure, integrate and support various software. - Participate in the IT on-call rotation.
